Caroline Awne- Hi Jacquelyn, of Jacfruits ! So glad we can be talking today, I have admired your blog for a while now! It is not every day that you find a vegan fitness coach. Usually, they are not vegan!one or the  Do you feel as though your fitness story coincides with your vegan story?

vegan coach jackfruitsJacfruits Vegan Fitness- Hi Caroline! I was interested in fitness first, and I didn’t become vegan until a few years later. I struggled with disordered eating, and as I learned more about health and nutrition I was introduced to veganism.

Caroline Awne-  Wow I too have a similar story, health and nutrition also introduced me to the concept of veganism, do you think it was a hard transition to make for you? Or as a health coach do you know tips and tricks to make it enjoyable?

Jacfruits Vegan Fitness- I was experimenting with vegetarian eating on and off for almost a year before and when I made the decision to go vegan, I did it overnight. The decision wasn’t hard, but the process was definitely challenging. It was challenging to learn how to eat properly and find a way that worked for me. Some tips I would offer is to do your research and to experiment! Learn from people who’ve already been there and try out different methods until you find something that fits your lifestyle. Getting a mentor or coach to walk you through the process is very helpful. Going alone can be tough!

Caroline Awne- Thank you for the tips, I agree going alone is tough. It’s important to find someone you can trust to walk you through. Cooking plant-based can be so different than conventional ways the kitchen. You almost have to buy new kitchen supplies! What would you say your top three most used kitchen tools are?(appliance I mean lol )

“when I made the decision to go vegan, I did it overnight. The decision wasn’t hard, but the process was definitely challenging. It was challenging to learn how to eat properly and find a way that worked for me.”

Jacfruits Vegan Fitness- Yes for sure! I’m pretty simple in the kitchen and my tools vary through the seasons, but I’ll say my top three most used kitchen appliances/tools are my Nutri-bullet blender, a sharp knife and a large pot (for making stews/soups).

Caroline Awne- Do you make smoothies pretty often? And are you more a raw foods orientated person or high carb low fat? Or do you think those types of labels doesn’t matter as long as you are plant based your health will thrive anyway?

Jacfruits Vegan Fitness- Yes I make smoothies almost every day. I love drinking green smoothies either for breakfast or snacks. I don’t think those labels matter too much. It’s important to listen to your body and see what it’s asking for. Some days I’ll want to eat more raw foods and some days I’ll eat more cooked. To thrive as a plant-based eater, you need to make sure you’re getting enough nutrients and also managing the other areas of your life like stress and getting quality sleep.like dealing with stress*

Caroline Awne- yes! I agree, a holistic way is the best way, one that sees the whole person, not just the eating habits! Speaking of that…I love how your blog mentions finding personal strength. Do you think that it is possible to find personal power through this type of lifestyle?
